I have no musical background at all. Can I join?

Yes, of course! We welcome students with no musical knowledge to join us. In fact, our Preparatory Level is specially designed for pure beginners, with absolutely zero knowledge.

I have some musical background. Can I join? Which level should I join?

Yes, we welcome students with or without musical background.

Since all GROUP courses are targeted for beginners, we encourage you to sign up for our INDIVIDUAL lessons. The instructor will be able to guide you according to your pace in this 1-to-1 INDIVIDUAL setting.

I think I'm tone-deaf. Can I join?

Sure! In fact we have some students who think that they are tone-deaf, but realising they are actually not. Listening is a form of art. We may be able to help you hear better.

DO YOU KNOW: According to scientific research, true tone-deaf is rare. It is usually associated with real hearing problems. If you can hear properly, you are most likely not tone-deaf.

I can't decide between INDIVIDUAL or GROUP class. Can you recommend?

These are the few reasons why some people choose our INDIVIDUAL class:

If you are not any of the above, we recommend that you join our GROUP classes.

What is the average age group? Can I join if I'm ___ years old?

We welcome students who are at least 14 years and above. Even though most of our students are between 18-32 years of age, we have had students who are as young as 14 and as old as 70. Age is certainly no barrier to learning music. What is important is your passion for music.

Do I have to bring my own instruments to Replugged Music for lesson?

No, this is not necessary as we provide our students with guitars, keyboards, drums and microphones.

Do I have to purchase 'additional material' for the course?

No. We understand that some other schools may require students to purchase additional printed course materials (eg, books, notes, instructional CDs, etc.) during the course. Replugged Music does not require students to purchase anything, as all printed course materials will be provided ENTIRELY FREE as part of the course.

What if my learning pace is too slow or too fast for my class?

Our instructors monitor the pace of each and every student very closely. If you are too fast or too slow for your class, your instructor will make arrangements for you to join another class of similar pace. However, this is not a common practice. Our students usually cope well with the learning pace.

Will I be able to "play by ear" at the end of the course?

To a certain level, YES. It really depends on what you think playing by ear is. Most of our students are able to decode quite an amount of musical information from the songs they listen to. This includes: melody, harmony and/or rhythm. We have had one student who practised 8 hours every day, and successfully acquired certain level of "playing by ear" in less than 6 months! Of course we do not require students to match that same amount of practice time! What we emphasize is a framework of how musical language works, and students grow and learn to hear better.

DO YOU KNOW: Some students may already be able to play by ear to a varying degree, without realizing it. On our part, we just help to develop this ability further.

What is a Student Deposit fee? How much is it? And what is it for? How and when can I be refunded this deposit?

A student deposit is a sum of money (SDG$30.00) that is compulsory payment when you enrol for your first Replugged Music course. The reason why schools charge students this sum of money is to protect the rights of instructors, as well as the school. At the same time, it is also fair to student(s) on the waiting list. When a student withdraws from his/her respective course with advanced notice to the school, the placement can be given to another student on the waiting list. This Student Deposit is fully-refundable if students inform the school at least a month before the withdrawal from their respective courses. Students who choose to leave without giving advanced notice will have to forfeit this sum of money. Otherwise, the sum of $30 is always fully-refunded to the student.

What is the difference between Replugged Music and other music schools?

  1. 100% of our instructors are regular performing musicians, or were regular performing musicians. We believe it takes a musician/performer to train another.
  2. 10-15% of our students have one thing in common. They have taken music lessons from other pop music schools, but they all chose Replugged Music as their most preferred music learning institution in the end.
  3. Some music schools have very high student turnover rates. Our student turnover rate is incredibly low. This is because our music courses are very well-received and our students love it. Our current student strength has increased in number by at least 3-5 times since 2002.

How do I enrol for the courses?

Simply drop by our place between 7-10pm (weekdays) or 2-6pm (weekends). However we think it'll be good idea to make an appointment first, just in case we are out fishing or taking pictures! If you are busy, just fill up our Registration Form and we will get in touch with you as soon as we can. You may also get in touch with us by writing to us at info@replugged.com.
